"Toby had always wanted to learn the guitar but we were never able to find a lesson locally which would slot in with school and scouting commitments. A friend recommended Sukh to us and it was one of the best decisions we have ever made. One year on he is still enthusiastic and looks forward to his weekly lesson with Sukh. As a teacher Sukh is very understanding, friendly and patient, spending time to find out what kind of music Toby enjoys and tailors the learning to his interests, whilst coaching him through any challenges this presents. Through this Toby has learnt more than just how to play an instrument, we feel he has learnt some key life skills such as perseverance and we have been delighted to see how his overall confidence has grown. We would certainly recommend Sukh to anyone considering learning the guitar"

All ages, all stages—30+ years of making guitar Fun and Accessible for everyone!
Welcome! If you're looking to learn guitar, improve your skills, or find inspiration as a player, you're in the right place. With over 30 years of guitar teaching experience and 25+ years of live performance, I offer practical, personalised guidance that helps players of all ages and skill levels grow with confidence.
Whether you're picking up a guitar for the first time or looking to refine your technique, you’ll benefit from a teaching approach shaped by decades of real-world playing, recording, and mentoring. Lessons are tailored to your goals, making your progress enjoyable and meaningful.
You’ll also be supporting a teacher who believes in using music to make a difference. Since 2007, I’ve been the guitarist for The Flailing Pits, a Cancer Research fundraising band that’s helped raise over £100k for charity through live shows—proof of music's power to connect and uplift.
Learning guitar should be rewarding, inspiring, and fun. My goal is to share what I’ve learned so you can find your own voice on the instrument and truly enjoy the journey.
Hopefully chat with you soon. Cheers!

FOR EVERYONE, ANYWHERE
Whether it's your very first time holding a guitar or you're an advanced player, I can help you improve your skills, learn music theory and even help you prepare for live performances.
I provide online lessons via Zoom from my professionally equipped studio, with hi-res video, audio and on-screen visuals. Most people have found this better than face-to-face but, if you'd prefer in-person lessons and are close by (I live in Ponteland, NE20), that's doable too :-)

A PROVEN APPROACH
You can always find cheaper (or free) lessons, but you run the risk of relying on ineffective / inexperienced approaches and developing bad habits that can take years to unlearn. The core of my approach is based on 2 principles:
ALWAYS PROVIDE VALUE. KEEP IT FUN!
Basically, you'll get 'bang for your buck' (quality for your quids?) and have fun at the same time. My students will tell you this approach works!

PERSONALISATION & FEEDBACK
Receiving personalised feedback (you can't get that from YouTube or pre-recorded lessons) develops good technique, rather than bad habits that can hold you back, and relying on generic lessons is like buying XXS T-shirts for all your friends; they just won't fit everyone!
So my lessons are tailored to each student
and include personalised video summaries to aid learning. Students have found this better than generic handouts or a '1 size fits all' approach.
